Adoption Paperwork

I never knew it would be this hard to write about why we want to have children.

We've been meaning to get to the paperwork for the adoption for a long time. I think it was back in May after my trip to Vancouver that we first began working on the stack of paperwork that's required for the embryo adoption program. But with legal questions and countless "urgent" tasks constantly getting in our way, the paperwork has taken a back seat for several months.

We've started again to make our way through it. A few weeks ago we filled out an autobiography form that's intended to let the donating family know a bit about us. That wasn't too hard, although a bit weird.

The hard part is the page and a half biography we're supposed to write about ourselves and why we want to have children. How do you condense into 1.5 pages of 12-point Arial everything the Bible says about the blessings of children and the amazing responsibility they bring?

Well, that's what we're going to try to do. Even as we write, though, we worry about how our Biblical perspective will come across to the donors. We're sure that some will be turned off. But our goal isn't to impress the donating family. Our goal is to be faithful to God and to give Him glory, even in something as simple as this. Hopefully we can communicate not only our desire to have more children, but also the great worthiness of our God who grants life!
